Giving BackEach fall, the women of Gamma Phi Beta conduct the campus’ largest philanthropic event, the Crescent Classic Chili Cook-Off, benefiting the United Way of Norman. In the Chili Cook-Off, various campus groups cook their best chili recipes for a panel of celebrity judges to rate. Last fall, the 2017 Final Four University of Oklahoma men’s basketball team served as judges. Hundreds of students and Norman residents gather at the chapter house to enjoy the food, music, hot dog eating contests and other festivities. This year, Gamma Phi Beta raised more than $7,700! The event featured a DJ, photo booth, spicy pepper eating contests and awards for best and hottest chili.
In March, we hosted out first annual Moonball Tournament. Organizations across campus formed teams and met at the intramural fields for a bracket-style kickball tournament. Participants and spectators enjoyed a sweet treat from DoughMG Edible Cookie Dough, a photobooth, puppies, and a DJ. After our exciting event, we raised more than $7,000 to benefit Girls on the Run of Oklahoma County. Girls on the Run is our international philanthropy partner as Gamma Phi Beta chapters across North America seek to Build Strong Girls.
